Pool Picnic

Summer is here!  The kids are out of school tomorrow and my family is planning on spending time at the pool to keep cool this summer.  Whether you're family goes to the pool, a beach, an ocean or a lake, at some point this summer you will probably need to pack some snacks for your swimmers.

As part of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program, I received a coupon for free Kraft Singles and a stipend so I came up with some fun and unique pool-side snacks to help keep my family satisfied at the pool this summer using Kraft Singles.

Even though I'm not packing lunches to send to school everyday I still pack snacks and lunches and sometimes even dinner, to take to the pool in the summer.  There's nothing better than a lazy summer day spent sitting by the water, watching the kids swim, munching on healthy snacks and sipping an ice cold lemonade.  Ahhhh - Summer.

Simple ham and cheese sandwiches with Kraft Singles and whole wheat bread make a great pool side snack.  To make these sandwiches, I layered a Kraft Single, a slice of ham and another Kraft Single on 2 slices of whole wheat bread.  I topped the sandwich with a second slice of bread and I used a large cookie cutter to create the flower shape.  I used a small round cookie cutter to make the hole in the center of the flower.

Another great snack to take to the pool are these Kraft Singles pinwheels.

To make these pinwheels, layer 4 Kraft Singles on a large (burrito size) flour tortilla.

Roll the tortilla to form a tight cylinder.

A perfect afternoon snack is an apple with cheese.  I came up with a way that you can take your apple and cheese snack to the pool this summer.

I sliced a large green apple using my mandolin.

I cut the Kraft singles to the size of the apple slices using a pairing knife.

I layered the Kraft Singles and the apple slices to create a delicious afternoon snack that I think my kids will love.

I don't know about you but I'm ready for some afternoons at the pool.  Get out your picnic baskets and your coolers and start packing because summer is here!

Of course, all of these snacks need to kept in an insulated cooler with ice packs to keep them safe for your family.

Happy Summer.
Ciao!
